how about returning Layer to a normal venue and applying the rules to snake?? Lets face it layer is nothing special now...

4 work party's and an upgrade fee?? Money could be used to repair oversized swims, plant a few trees were they have been cut down and plant some new margin shrubabry to conceal some of the swims a bit.

Too late for the upgrade suggestion I know, but this work could be be done on a few work party's, it doesn't sound too expensive.

trouble is im not sure how we can grow the vegetation infront of the swims and keep it there, i dont understand why people have to cut back and pull out reeds in front of swims, as long as there is enough room for rods and netting surely thats all is needed. the fish do get in front of the swims often if ur concealed and sit and look.

seams to be a mentality to fish from a beach rather than be concealed.

really pisses me off!!!!

those in the know are having to bivi up away from our rods tucked away in the swims were this is safe to do so, kinda funny when people look over thinking the swim is free then lugging gear round to find us fishing but concealed. surely its nicer looking out across the lake at greenery than baren waste land for swims.

I think you're just asking for trouble by planting vegetation in front of swims. It doesn't bother me in the slightest, but some anglers will rip anything up that obscures their view or interferes in any way with their fishing.

Sad but true.

i can see your point, maybe a little note on the board at snake asking members not to destroy the nataural cover, and where it is causing a problem, speak to one of the bailiffs.

an overgrown lake is no good but the amount of fish that get into the margins at snake would surprise a lot people, a little cover in the swims will give a lot more oppertunities for stalking and margin fishing in the warmer months. i cant think of a more exhillerating way of catching carp than being able to watch them feding feet away from you.

i hope it can happen with the swim foliage cause being able to do some afternoon stalking on snake with a better chance of a fish cant be a bad thingb cuase with commitments i cant get the time needed to fish snake properly at the moment but would dearly love to

it does stagger me how the majority of people cant find them in the margins away from the main snags.. me and levi and a couple of otheres have regularly spotted them. at one point we found the big girl feding no more than 2inchs from the bank, on another occasion i had left lumpy under my rods troughing, only i managed to spook her before i could do anything. ive watched single scale basking in a weed bed then moving to the margins for a rub up from a good vantage point.

often the fish swim feet from the bank in main snags swim, car park hole in the wall and the oaks. only problem is they often see you and bolt because u just cant creep up on them infront of the swims or they swim past looking very nervous in there movements.

if we have this..

rather than this....

then we wont have to do this....

so we can see more of this, just a few feet out!..(snake fish in a frenzy, very rare i agree!)
